Last night in our class I finished teaching the book of Galatians. Next week I start with the same students on the books of 1 & 2 Corinthians.
It was eye opening experience for them to learn about the differences of trying to work out our own salvation by following the "works of the law", as opposed to "the just shall live by faith". It is surprising to find out just how many Christians try to fulfill the law when Christ has already fulfilled it for us.
The upcoming semester will be another powerpacked adventure when we tackle the many controversies of the Corinthian letters. It seems that many of the hot button issues in the Body of Christ are contained in those letters, such as speaking in tongues, women in the church, the gifts of the Spirit, etc.
Searching deep into the cultures of the day and the geography and language of the city where the Corinthians lived reaveals a great deal about the letters which Paul wrote. I truly enjoy being up front watching the expressions on our students' faces as the Word opens up to them.
The second class I'll be teaching is called Divine Healing. Our redemption is rich and what a privilege it is to be able to proclaim God's goodness to the many nationalities who come to study. We have students from Thailand, Camaroon, Nigeria, Vietnam, Albania and all of the Soviet Union.
